Lillehammer, Norway

The congress will take place at the SCANDIC Hotel in Lillehammer, two hours north of Oslo Airport. Lillehammer is best known as being the host for the Winter Olympics 1994. As a UNESCO City of Literature, it is a cultural center of Inland Norway with a rich history. In walking distance to the venue, you can explore Norwegian architecture from the 13th century to today in the open-air museum Maihaugen and visit the Olympics Museum. Lillehammer is also known for its Museum of Art and the fairytale adventure park Hunderfossen. Extend your stay and explore the close-by Nationalparks Rondane to the east and Jotunheimen to the west of Lillehammer.

Scandic Lillehammer Hotel opened its doors in 1911, and is the regions biggest meeting point for conferences, vacations and weekend adventures. The property is located in a large private park near the city centre. The conference department consists of 17 large and small meeting rooms.  

 

SCANDIC Lillehammer offers several recreational possibilities, starting with their renovated restaurant Salt & Pepper, a large fitness centre and a newly opened wellness centre where you can relax after a long day of meetings and activities. Four different types of saunas, an infinity pool, two outdoor hot tubs and a relax room is among the facilities you will be able to enjoy in our wellness centre.

By air

Oslo Airport (Gardermoen) is the nearest major airport to Lillehammer, located approximately 145 km south of the city. It offers extensive domestic and international flights.

Airport to Lillehammer: You can reach Lillehammer from Oslo Airport by:

 

  • Train: The easiest and most scenic way to reach Lillehammer is by train. Direct trains are available from Oslo Gardermoen Airport to Lillehammer Station and take about 2 hours. Trains run frequently throughout the day. Train tickets can be purchased via the official website of Norwegian State Railways (Vy). 

  • Car rental: Car rental services are available at Oslo Airport. The drive to Lillehammer takes about 2 hours via E6.

  • Bus: Several bus services are also available from the airport to Lillehammer. This journey might take around 2.5 hours.

By train 

Lillehammer Station Lillehammer is well-connected by train to major Norwegian cities. Direct trains from Oslo Central Station to Lillehammer run regularly and offer a comfortable and scenic route to the city.

By car

Lillehammer can be reached by car via the E6 highway, which is the main road through Norway, running from south to north.

  • From Oslo: The drive from Oslo to Lillehammer takes approximately 2.5 hours heading north on the E6.

  • From Trondheim: If you’re coming from the north, the drive from Trondheim to Lillehammer takes about 5 hours via E6 south.
