📅 When: 4–7 September 2025
📍 Where: Rondane National Park and surrounding mountain areas
👥 Who: Maximum 25 participants

Thursday, 4 September

We will depart from Lilleammer in minibuses at 16:00 and drive north for about 2 hours along the E6, a scenic route that winds through Gudbrandsdalen Valley, alongside the Losna lake, and offers views of cultural landscapes, steep mountain farms, and historic pilgrimage trails. We’ll arrive at Brekkeseter, a unique and peaceful retreat nestled on the western edge of Høvringen, with Rondane National Park at our backs and stunning views toward Jotunheimen. Our accommodation consists of charming, restored 17th–19th century timber cabins from Gudbrandsdalen and surrounding regions—authentic, cozy, and surrounded by nature. The car-free property offers a peaceful atmosphere, and all cabins are equipped with modern amenities. We'll enjoy a homemade dinner and settle in for a relaxing mountain evening.

Friday, 5 September

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll prepare for a moderate day hike in the Høvringen area. Our journey begins at Putten Seter, where we follow a gravel road and then join a marked trail heading toward Formokampen—a striking peak in the Rondane foothills. The trail passes through birch forest, marshes, and alpine terrain, offering expansive views along the ridge. The final stretch to the summit is steeper and rocky, so weather permitting, those who feel adventurous can continue up. There’s also an optional longer circular route around Formokampen (an extra ~5 km), or you can return the way you came. After the hike, we’ll relax at Putten Seter’s charming café, where you can try traditional ‘rømmegrøt’, Norwegian waffles, and a well-earned coffee or beer. We’ll return to Brekkeseter for a warm dinner and cozy evening in the cabins.

Saturday, 6 September

After breakfast and packing up, we head out for a final mountain hike in the area of Ringebufjellet, known for its scenic plateau landscapes and elusive ptarmigan habitats. The exact trail is to be defined, but we’ll aim for a moderate hike around the Storfjellet area—another taste of Norway's wild beauty. After the hike, we descend toward Campus Evenstad, where we’ll reunite with all other field trip participants for the final dinner and celebration of the congress. That evening, accommodation will be arranged at a comfortable hotel in Koppang.

Sunday, 7 September

On Sunday morning, it’s time to say goodbye. We will organize transportation to Hamar, where you can catch a train to Oslo or Oslo Airport. If you’d like to extend your stay, you’re welcome to explore Koppang and its surroundings—there are afternoon train connections available from Koppang to Oslo.
